The role.
Innomotics is seeking a Senior Solution Engineer to join our Customer Service Engineering Team located in New Kensington, PA. Our Engineering Team is responsible for crafting, implementing, and supporting technical solutions for the world’s fleet of Innomotics Medium Voltage Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).

Our Solutions engineers must have a deep understanding of technology and be able to apply it to tackle real-world problems. This position requires electro-mechanical proficiency and skill with an understanding of control applications. You will be required to collaborate with teams such as Quality, Project Management, Purchasing, R&D, and Engineering as needed to resolve field issues and apply lessons learned to future solutions and customer orders.
Responsibilities:
- Fix and support field problems and system issues for medium voltage variable frequency drives and applications.
- Support Engineering efforts for Innomotics drives included drawing modifications and incorporating engineering drawing changes.
- Provide design changes for field upgrades of existing installed drives (including control system and cooling systems).
- Support development of aftermarket engineering projects.
- Responsible for alignment to engineering change request/document control processes.
- Collaborate with other Engineering personnel and specialists to resolve drive performance/configuration issues.
- Assist with monitoring and assignment of resources for the Customer Service Technical Support Request system.
- Travel to supplier/customer sites as the need arises to resolve issues including interact directly with customers and/or Customer Service personnel. Typically, less than 5% per year, short notice travels typically 1 time per year.
Your profile.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education & Experience:
- Education: BS in Engineering, Engineering Technology, a related discipline or equivalent validated experience with medium voltage variable frequency drives.
- A minimum of 5-8 years of hands-on industrial experience.
- Ability to read and understand drawings/schematics and interpret customer specifications.
- Must have general knowledge of industrial controls, including relay logic.
- Understanding of variable frequency drives and their applications.
- Possess a familiarity with and ability to follow standard engineering policies and procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent digital literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- Requires the ability to build sophisticated parts, assemblies, and bills of material.
- Proficient in use of CAD software.
- Must be detail oriented and take ownership of projects.
- Must be able to work independently on projects to tackle technical issues with minimal direction.
- Strong organization and excellent time management skills.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education & Experience:
- Hands-on experience with Innomotics drives.
- Understanding of analog and digital control systems including ability to analyze and modify drives such as System Operating Programs.
- Familiar with PLC interface and implementation.
- Drive/motor system design & application experience.
- Teamcenter experience.
- SAP experience.
- AutoCAD and NX experience are preferred, but experience with other CAD 2D/3D drawing software packages is acceptable.
The pay range for this position is $71,300 - $122,300. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
