Your Future Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Specialist Engineer to join our team, leading the design and application of various Innomotics Variable Frequency Drives. As the Specialist Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the configuration and modification of the equipment per customer requirements.

 

This position is based in the New Kensington, PA facility and will work a hybrid schedule (1-3 days onsite/week).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Drive use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into all aspects of Operation Engineering activities.
  • Lead all aspects of the design, development, and manufacturing of low and medium voltage system in Innomotics’ offered medium voltage VFDs, ensuring compliance with industry standards, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Demonstrate and apply a broad knowledge of fundamental electrical and mechanical concepts, practices, and procedures through successful completion of moderately complex assignments.
  • Lead project documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, and test reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform engineering, mathematical and scientific analysis as required to support the project.
  • Monitor project risks and issues, implement mitigation strategies, and proactively communicate project status updates to project manager and customer.
  • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to procure electrical equipment and components, ensuring timely delivery and alignment to project specifications.
  • Collaborate support to other company functions during the manufacturing process to bring designs to completion. These functions include operations, procurement, planning, program management, test, outside vendors, etc.
  • Champion a culture of innovation, and continuous improvement within the Innomotics team.

 

Your Profile

Requirements:

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology or related discipline required.
  • 8+ years of industrial experience with direct experience in power electronics, VFDs (AC/DC), and electrical machinery.  Field service/engineering background a plus.
  • Application knowledge of AI systems. Including building and implementing language models.
  • Familiarity with current AI trends, including generative AI, AI agents, and practical applications of intelligent technologies in engineering and operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of industrial controls, including relay logic, etc. working in an engineering role for a large electrical equipment manufacturer. 
  • Understand variable frequency drives and their applications.
  • Ability to read schematics and interpret customer specifications.
  • Strong organization and excellent time management skills.
  • Possess a familiarity with and follow all engineering policies and procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills required, including Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of organizational business practices and operation.

 

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Experience implementing AI-driven automations to improve workflows, reporting, troubleshooting, testing, or operational efficiency.
  • Working knowledge of integrating AI tools with engineering software, operational data, and automation systems, with exposure to emerging agent-based solutions considered a plus.
  • Ability to evaluate new AI technologies and identify practical use cases within an engineering environment.
  • Working knowledge and use of E-plan and ProPanel
  • Medium Voltage Experience
  • Familiar with PLC Interface/Implementation
  • Drive/Motor System Design
  • Cooling System (water specific) Application Experience
  • Switchgear Experience
  • Knowledge and use of AutoCAD 2D,
  • Working knowledge of NX 3D drawing software
  • SAP experience preferred
  • IEC, CSA, UL standards pertaining to Medium Voltage Variable Frequency Drives
  • PLC/HMI experience also desired.

 

The pay range for this position is $81,680- $210,036.  The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
