Your Future Role

  • You build and lead the global Cost Intelligence team, ensuring strong capabilities in bottom-up cost calculation and market benchmarking.
  • You establish methodologies for systematic cost evaluation, including should-cost and brown-field analyses, to assess competitiveness against both green-field scenarios and existing setups.
  • Furthermore, you integrate cost management into core business processes, including product development and engineering with a design-to-cost approach, offer and tendering processes with a focus on cost transparency and target costing, as well as strategic portfolio management by providing a clear profitability and competitiveness view.
  • In addition, you develop and maintain a global cost database for key materials, components, and manufacturing processes.
  • Based on this foundation, you benchmark the company’s cost position against competitors, identifying best practices and structural improvement opportunities.
  • You translate analytical findings into actionable measures to improve the competitiveness of products and components.
  • You actively support supplier negotiations by leveraging should-cost insights to achieve optimized purchase prices and value-based discussions.
  • You collaborate closely with Engineering, Procurement, Operations, and Finance to ensure alignment on cost targets and value optimization.
  • Finally, you evaluate and support make-or-buy decisions, ensuring transparent cost comparisons between internal and external sourcing options.

 

Your Profile

  • You hold a university degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
  • Moreover, you bring at least ten years of professional experience in cost management, product costing, or value engineering within an industrial environment.
  • You have a proven track record in building and leading international expert teams and can effectively manage and develop diverse, cross-border organizations.
  • Furthermore, you possess deep expertise in bottom-up costing methodologies, manufacturing cost structures, and comprehensive value chain analysis.
  • You have solid experience in conducting should-cost and brown-field analyses and in translating analytical results into concrete business actions and measurable improvements.
  • In addition, you demonstrate strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to seamlessly integrate cost management into product lifecycle processes as well as commercial and sales-related activities.
  • You also bring proven experience in make-or-buy analyses and sourcing cost comparisons, ideally gained through close collaboration between Engineering and Procurement.
  • Moreover, you have excellent negotiation skills, supported by direct exposure to supplier negotiations and sourcing discussions in a professional context.
  • You combine a strategic mindset with a hands-on execution capability, enabling you to drive initiatives from concept to implementation.
  • Finally, you communicate fluently in English; knowledge of German is considered a strong advantage.
