This role serves as the technical expert at customer sites, ensuring MV drives and their associated systems are fully functional, meet performance specifications, and comply with safety and quality standards.

The MV Drives Engineering and Commissioning team member is also responsible for providing engineering and technical  expertise for system engineering of Medium Voltage (MV) drives projects. This role involves working closely with proposal teams, project managers, customers, engineering groups, and field service teams to ensure successful technical delivery from system design to site commissioning. The engineer will ensure that MV drive systems meet all performance, quality, and safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.

The role also demands extensive travel to customer sites within and outside India.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Engineering Design and Technical Support

  • Develop detailed engineering designs for MV drive systems, including specifications, schematics, single-line diagrams, and system layouts.
  • Prepare equipment selections, bill of materials, and interface documents for MV drives and associated systems.
  • Support proposal teams by providing technical inputs, reviewing RFQs, and developing engineering deliverables for bids.
  • Perform technical reviews of customer specifications and ensure alignment with offered solutions.
  • Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT) activities as needed.

2. Project Execution and Delivery

  • Provide engineering support throughout the project execution phase, ensuring that technical deliverables are completed on schedule and meet project requirements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, quality, and field service teams to resolve any technical issues during project execution.
  • Review vendor documents and drawings for compliance with project requirements.
  • Prepare system test procedures and participate in in-house testing before shipment.

3. Commissioning and Site Support

  • Serve as the technical representative on-site, maintaining direct communication with customers and project teams.
  • Lead or support on-site commissioning activities for MV drives, including system start-up, functional testing, performance verification, and troubleshooting.
  • Interface directly with customers during commissioning to ensure satisfaction and project acceptance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on-site related to drives, motors, or auxiliary systems.
  • Document commissioning results and creating detailed reports for project close-out.
  • Provide feedback to engineering and project teams on any lessons learned or product improvements.

4. Compliance, Quality, and Safety

  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC), safety regulations, and client-specific requirements during engineering and commissioning.
  • Follow all site safety protocols and promote safe working practices during commissioning activities.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and risk assessments to mitigate technical risks early.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, E&TC Engineering, or related field.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in engineering and commissioning MV drives, VFDs, or power electronics systems.
  • Hands-on experience with commissioning MV drives, including integration with motors, PLC, transformers, breakers and industrial applications.
  • Solid understanding of power system design, protection, and controls related to MV drives.

Preferred Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of MV VFD technologies, such as Multilevel VSI, Load Commutated Inverter (LCI), or Current Source Inverter (CSI) systems.
  • Familiarity with different applications like fans, pumps, compressors, mills, conveyors, and mixers across industries (cement, metals, power, water, oil & gas, etc.).
  • Knowledge of motor control for induction and synchronous motors.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools like AutoCAD/Eplan and software for drive parameterization.
  • Exposure to PLC, SCADA/DCS systems integration will be an advantage.
  • Certification or training in industrial safety practices for commissioning activities.
